For 30 years the Blue Flag has been a European symbol for environmentally sound beaches. Leirosa beach, located in Marinha das Ondas and where it is based to Celbi, is one of the 320 beaches in Portugal which were given this award in 2017 by the European Blue Flag Association. Over 55% of all Portuguese beaches were similarly recognised. Leirosa beach has a large area of sand which makes it a unique site, flanked by a leafy pine forest. At Leirosa there is no shortage of excellent waves for surfing and other water sports.
