Fénix Project promotes recovery of forest stands affected by fires

26 out 2022

Altri Florestal launched a pilot project focused on promoting productive potential in areas affected by fires. The Fénix Project provides free support to forest owners in the maintenance operations of forest stands affected by fires, promoting their recovery, increasing production and encouraging the non-abandonment of stands.

In this first approach, the benefited territory is the municipality of Vila de Rei, in an area chosen for over 500 hectares of maritime pine and eucalyptus, where the aim is to: reduce densities (thinning of stumps); elimination of invasive species; the cutting of dead sticks resulting from fires; the reduction of fuel load inside the villages and also the support in the registration process (BUPi).

The project has been publicized at times such as the Sausages, Cheese and Honey Fair in Vila de Rei to thousands of visitors, including the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa.
